06.07.07 Terry Richardson shoots for Penthouse

Former GQ editor Mark Healy, who was brought on board at Penthouse late last year to shiny it up and make it more relevant and contemporary, has enlisted Terry Richardson to shoot the mags first centerfold with porn star Sasha Grey.

While I love Terry Richardson - his book ‘Terryworld’ is an essential viewing for anyone interested in contemporary erotic photography - his recent fashion work for Lee jeans stained my appreciation for him a little by calling into question the raw authenticity which made his earlier work so engaging.

It will be interesting to see whether the published feature retains any of Richardson’s stark honesty or just end ups being an on-camera flash version of every other counterfeit and airbrushed penthouse shoot in history.
