This weeks featured artist is fascinating young Finnish photographer Jenni Tapanila – aka suzi9mm.
Tapanila’s work is a dramatic and controversial exploration of themes of sex and death. Much of her imagery has a visceral, physical immediacy to it, yet a simultaneous calming coldness and filmic surreality. It depicts beautiful women as both subjects and perpetrators of violence, in scenes of elegantly posed victims of painless laceration.
Her work is graphic, confronting and very very beautiful.
